REPAIR and REPLACEMENT FACILITIES

Would you go to a Drug Store to buy a steak?

Would you go to a Newspaper Stand to order lunch?

If this would not make sense to you then let's put automotive glass replacement into perspective.

There are a lot of different types of shops out there who will replace automotive glass. These shops may be Body shops, Auto Repair, Tire Shops, Used Car Dealers, Service Stations and many others that will undertake glass replacement.....BUT ARE THEY QUALIFIED?...Most likely NOT!

Chances are when you ask for Qualifications and Certification of the glass technician, and or provision of documentation for the technician, they will look at you in awe and respond with " Well Joe Bob has done went and done this for years and he does real good, do you want a brake job with that?",

GLASS SHOPS, IN MOST CASES, BUT NOT ALL,  are both Qualified and Certified for ALL types of auto glass replacement, this insures the customer that the job is completed to conform with OEM specifications, this also provides security to the customer in that their replacement is worry free and provides the assurance that the job was professionally done.

What type of glass is used?

You can always tell what type of glass is being used by the pricing.

Cheap, ill fitting glass, improper bow design, short glass (both in height/width), and glass thickness will all play a part in pricing, thus this type of glass will be quoted at a lesser rate than OEM quality glass, SO..Do you actually save by substituting quality for price?. Actually the only one that benefits from this is the seller of the glass.

Also some facilities will use "used" glass that may be obtained from a salvage yard and STILL charge for new glass. Problems with used glass is it is contaminated and may not retain it's seal (now you have a leak), But "WOW"  look at the money you saved.
