AUTO GLASS WORKS DOES NOT PARTICIPATE, OR PROVIDE, MOBILE GLASS REPLACEMENT SERVICES.

Mobile services are a disaster, although it may be a suggestion or recommendation by the company that you call your claim into, they are only advocating what they believe to be a "plus" service for their insureds. They have no idea of the procedures, or problems that occur with mobile service, they assume that replacement is commonplace and that the installation conforms to OEM and all Federal Safety Standards for windshield / backglass, SUCH IS NOT THE CASE, IF at any time the CSR, or Your INSURANCE AGENT would have attended any SAFETY or INSTALLATION CLASS, THEY WOULD CHANGE THEIR MINDS ABOUT MOBILE SERVICE IN AN INSTANT, they have no idea of the procedures of glass replacement, and to the insured this sounds like an ideal situation (IF ONLY YOU KNEW).

Auto Vehicle Dealers should take into consideration that the customer who purchases a Vehicle from you relies on your assurance that the Vehicle conforms to all safety standards, including the glass, mobile installations do not provide that assurance.

Today's vehicles employ more safety features that can be disabled thru improper removal of windshields, side glass, and yes, back glass. Air bags, side curtains, and other features can be deployed by static electricity, the computer system can be triggered and may disable those safety features thru improper disconnect procedure and you will be the one to pay the dealer to reset the computer (insurance will not cover that).

Another really curious thing, and one of my personal concerns about mobile installations is ARE THE INSTALLERS CERTIFIED, most are not, and in most cases they are actually subcontractors hired by glass companies, or independant glass installers that are not licensed or certified in the procedures of automotive glass installation. These companies provide the glass, a vehicle to go to the jobs, or the installer will even use his personal vehicle, and a flat amount for installing the glass, the more they do the more they make.  SO ARE YOUR BEST INTERESTS CONSIDERED. When mobile service goes to a job there is only one factor in mind, MONEY, do the job quick, use less expensive materials, reuse the old molding and get to the next job as quick as possible, if a problem shows up then the company that contracted the installation will address the problem later, later meaning that the warranty will expire before they get there.
